Story
This painting found me in the rice fields of Bali, in Ubud.
Along a narrow, hidden path, far from the usual routes, I met a couple, both named Wayan. Husband and wife quietly sharing their work with those who happened to pass by their hut.
This piece was offered on behalf of their cousin, among paintings they had created themselves. I was drawn to it instantly: the Balinese femininity, the natural sensuality, the raw and imperfect style. Nothing polished. Just presence.
I hesitated, allowing it a night to stay where it was.
When I returned the next day, the couple told me ''sadly'' that it had been taken by a very enthusiastic man. For a brief moment, I felt disappointed.
Until we finally realized we weren't speaking about the same piece: apparently there was another female figure painted by their cousin.
I laughed.
This woman wasn't planning to go anywhere else.
A symbol of feminine strength and the art of divine timing. And now it's the time you will find her.
